WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL AND CARBONISED BAMBOO?
To produce our beautiful Coffee and Suede colours products, we take the strands of bamboo and place them in a steaming oven. This process heats the natural sugars and starches found in the plant and causes them to caramelise resulting in a warm brown visual which permeates throughout the board.
IS STRAND-WOVEN BAMBOO THE SAME PRODUCT AS TRADITIONAL BAMBOO FLOORING?
No. Strand-woven bamboo is manufactured differently than traditional bamboo flooring. Traditional bamboo flooring is created by gluing sections of bamboo pole together in various pattern constructions. This process leaves the large open natural cell structure of the plant intact making it susceptible to moisture and stability issues. The traditional bamboo flooring is also not as hard as strand and can be prone to splitting. Strand woven bamboo is twice as hard as traditional bamboo and stable due to the manufacturing process.
CAN YOUR BAMBOO FLOORING BE GLUED DIRECTLY TO CONCRETE?
All Style bamboo flooring products are suitable for a glue-down application to concrete with a premium wood adhesive such as Sika adhesive. As always, check for any moisture problems in the concrete first. Consult each product's installation guidelines for further information.
CAN YOUR BAMBOO FLOORING BE USED OVER RADIANT HEAT SYSTEMS?
Style flooring can be installed over hydronic radiant heating systems provided conditions are met. See section on Radiant heating systems.
